School Meals

Lunchtime at Heath is just as important as the rest of our day, and our team of Kitchen Staff and Mid-day Supervisors all work hard to make it a pleasant, relaxing time.

Hot school meals, consist of two courses and are designed to provide a tempting, balanced option to the mid-day meal.  Our meals are provided by Eats, a company which is wholly owned by Suffolk County Council. They cost £2.30 per meal and provide good value.

This Weeks menu is . . .

You may choose to provide your child with a packed lunch, these will be eaten in the dining hall with those having a hot meal or on especially nice days we may take the children for a picnic lunch outside on our field.  We ask that packed lunches provide a nutritional balance and do not contain any sweets or chocolate bars in line with our Healthy Eating ethos.  Owing to a number of severe allergy sufferers we also ask that you do not include any foods which may contain nuts.

You may also decide to collect your child for a home lunch.  In this case, we ask that you advise staff before hand, sign your child out on collection, and return them to school prior to the bell for the end of lunchtime at 1:15pm

In March 2014 the government announced the Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme to provide every child in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 in main stream schools with a free hot lunch.  This means that if your child is in these year groups then they automatically entitled to receive a free hot meal.  You may of course choose to opt out and provide a packed lunch for your child instead.

Children (including those in the Universal Infant Free School Meals program) whose parents are in receipt of certain benefits can apply for Free School Meals Funding. This not only provides your child with a free hot meal, but also entitles the school to receive a Pupil Premium of £1300 per child per year in extra funding towards their education.  As you can image, this extra income to the school is very important, and goes a long way to helping us provide targeted support for your child.
